US oil country tubular goods (OCTG) pricingis unlikely to get a big boost from the domestic rig count over the course of2020, Kallanish learns from market sources.

That price will likely be a touch stone forthe year ahead, as lacklustre rig numbers are somewhat offset by increased consumption per rig, says a Gulf Coast trader.

“I would expect much upward movement in the rig count for a while - but that said, I do expect a less dramatic effect on OCTG consumption,” he says. “The remaining rigs will be the most productive,with the best equipment and the best crews. The net result should be more tonsper rig consumed, and therefore only a modest effect on OCTG from the currentrig count."
