10 使徒回来，将所作的事告诉耶稣。耶稣就带他们暗暗地离开那里，往一座城去，那城名叫伯赛大。
When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus whatthey had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to atown called Bethsaida,
11 但众人知道了，就跟着他去。耶稣便接待他们，对他们讲论神国的道，医治那些需医的人。
but the crowds learned about it and followed him. Hewelcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those whoneeded healing.
12 日头快要平西，十二个门徒来对他说，请叫众人散开，他们好往四面乡村里去借宿找吃的。因为我们这里是野地。
Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said,'Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countrysideand find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.'
13 耶稣说，你们给他们吃吧。门徒说，我们不过有五个饼，两条鱼。若不去为这许多人买食物就不够。
He replied, 'You give them something to eat.' They answered,'We have only five loaves of bread and two fish--unless we go and buy food forall this crowd.'
14 那时，人数约有五千。耶稣对门徒说，叫他们一排一排的坐下，每排大约五十个人。
(About five thousand men were there.) But he said to hisdisciples, 'Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.'
15 门徒就如此行，叫众人都坐下。
The disciples did so, and everybody sat down.
16 耶稣拿着这五个饼，两条鱼，望着天祝福，掰开，递给门徒摆在众人面前。
Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up toheaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples toset before the people.
17 他们就吃，并且都吃饱了。把剩下的零碎收拾起来，装满了十二篮子。
They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples pickedup twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
18 耶稣自己祷告的时候，门徒也同他在那里。耶稣问他们说，众人说我是谁。
Once when Jesus was praying in private and his discipleswere with him, he asked them, 'Who do the crowds say I am?'
19 他们说，有人说是施洗的约翰。有人说是以利亚。还有人说，是古时的一个先知又活了。
They replied, 'Some say John the Baptist; others sayElijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back tolife.'
20 耶稣说，你们说我是谁。彼得回答说，是神所立的基督。
'But what about you?' he asked. 'Who do you say I am?'Peter answered, 'The Christ of God.'
21 耶稣切切地嘱咐他们，不可将这事告诉人。
Jesus strictly warned them not to tell this toanyone.
22 又说，人子必须受许多的苦，被长老祭司长和文士弃绝，并且被杀，第三日复活。
And he said, 'The Son of Man must suffer many things andbe rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he mustbe killed and on the third day be raised to life.'
23 耶稣又对众人说，若有人要跟从我，就当舍己，天天背起他的十字架来，跟从我。
Then he said to them all: 'If anyone would come after me,he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
24 因为凡要救自己生命的，生命或作灵魂下同必丧掉生命。凡为我丧掉生命的，必救了生命。
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, butwhoever loses his life for me will save it.
25 人若赚得全世界，却丧了自己，赔上自己，有什么益处呢？
What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, andyet lose or forfeit his very self?
26 凡把我和我的道当作可耻的，人子在自己的荣耀里，并天父与圣天使的荣耀里，降临的时候，也要把那人当作可耻的。
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Manwill be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of theFather and of the holy angels.
27 我实在告诉你们，站在这里的，有人在没尝死味以前，必看见神的国。
I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will nottaste death before they see the kingdom of God.'
