Job description
Assistant to the Head of Section / Scienceand Technology Counsellor:
- Personal support (scheduling, administrative matters, translation);
- A-Z management of local correspondence (including translation if needed);
- Meeting and travel organization.
Assistantto the Section (6 team members):
- Manage the Section’s contacts;
- Translations and interpretation from Chinese – English and from English – Chinese;
- Respond to routine inquiries;
- Evaluation of Chinese media reports inscience, technology, education and innovation as well as drafting of a monthly news letter;
- Information gathering, editing of memos, meeting minutes, fact sheets, data compilations;
- Contact with Chinese counterparts (authorities, business, representatives);
- Various project management tasks: supportof S&T projects, events, publications, delegation visits etc. (manageproject details, keep financial records, fill out standardized project reports,establish programs etc.);
- Contribute to the Section’s input to the Embassy database & information systems.
Requirements
- Chinese national;
- Master’s degree;
- Work experience in an executive administrative and project management environment;
- Strong ability to assist the management of projects, to work in a diplomatic setting and to contribute to the strengthening of the Sino-Swiss bilateral relations as well as to the promotion of Swiss interests;
- Fluent in Chinese (oral & written) with excellent English skills. Knowledge of French or German would be an asset;
- Very good knowledge of standard IT tools;
- Interest in Switzerland with a thorough understanding of science, technology, (higher) education and innovation in China as well as of the Chinese Central Administration are strong advantages;
- Commitment to work at the Embassy of Switzerland in this function for at least two years.
