What's the G in G20? G20里这个G到底是什么意思？

答案是.......

• G = group: 集团，团体

It stands for "group". When you say G20, it sounds much more powerful and mysterious : 其实就是“团体”啦，不过说G20, 听起来有气势多了，而且还有几分神秘感

Summit: 峰会；山峰，山顶

Summit also means the top of the mountain : 这个词也是 山峰的意思

Climb to the summit of a mountain: 爬到山顶

I'm the same way as you. I grew up in a military family. Politics were always part of the dinner table conversations: 我跟你一样，我家是军人家庭，家里聚餐总会讨论政治

I went to study politics thinking I wanted to make a difference in the world: 我学政治，就是抱着要改变世界的理想

The world is in turmoil : 世界很动荡

I realized the world has always been in turmoil: 其实 我后来明白世界一直都很动荡

I don't think I was naive to want to make a difference: 但我不觉得想改变世界的想法很幼稚

I think what we are doing at OpenLanguage is a form of International Relations: 我觉得我们在开言做的工作也是促进国际关系

We're bridging the gap between language and culture: 我们是在搭一座连接语言和文化的桥梁

Who's coming to the G20 Summit?

Everyone!

你可以用 这些词 形容大人物、大腕儿：

• The who's who of ...: 大人物，大腕

• The whole shebang: 所有 大人物，大腕

• The whole gang: 同上

The who's who of the international order : 国际秩序的大腕儿

The whole shebang/the whole gang is here: 所有大人物都来了

这几个说法都特别地道。跟 native speaker 说 ， 他们一定对你刮目相看 ！

不过，这些说法很 口语；正式 的说法是 ：

• national leaders: 国家领导人

• heads of states: 国家元首

总统、主席；总理、首相

虽然中文叫法因国而异，不过基本上英语谈国家领导人，就会用这两个词：

• President: 总统、主席

• Prime Minister (也常缩写为PM): 首相，总理

为什么日本、英国叫首相，不是总理呢？

但是，有个例外：

• Chancellor: 德国总理用这个词

Germany is the only major country that uses the word "chancellor" instead of prime minister: 德国应该是主要国家里唯一用 chancellor而不是 prime minister称呼总理的

• King: 国王

Which country is that? 这是哪个国家？

It's a country with a lot of oil: 是个石油很多的国家

Oh, Saudi Arabia! 噢，沙特阿拉伯

还有头衔很长的欧盟领导人：

• President of the European Council: 欧洲理事会主席

• President of the European Commission: 欧盟委员会主席

各国领导人的名字，读音有奥妙

Angela Merkel is often pronounced the German way in English media: 默克尔的名字在英语媒体也常用德语发音念

It's ahn-GAY-lah : 这个G是发“格”的因

Abe Shinzo: 安倍晋三

Park Guen-hye: 朴槿惠

Vladimir Putin: 普京

Americans often make the "t" into an "n" sound: 美国人说"Putin"的时候，常把t变成n的音。

G20各国领导人中，加拿大总理特鲁多 Justin Trudeau 绝对是 media darling (媒体宠儿)，这颜值:

• Man crush: 男人间的欣赏

• Bromance (brother+romance): 同上

这两个词都是 调侃 口吻，指一个男人特别喜欢、特别欣赏另一个男人

He is such a hunk ：他的确很帅

Hunk (名词 )/ hunky(形容词): 高大帅气

帅总理爸爸开启中加外交关系

特鲁多的爸爸也曾任加拿大总理，而且是加拿大人公认的最杰出的一任总理。

他们家族在加拿大的地位堪比 肯尼迪家族 在美国的地位。
