Background and Objectives
Earthquakes often lead to severe consequences such as the collapse of buildings, fracture of bridges, causing casualties, and property losses. Earthquake engineering is an interdisciplinary scientific area that can enhance the seismic performance of buildings and infrastructures, reducing their seismic risks to socio-economically acceptable levels. Collaboration, sharing, and communication among experts and scholars in the field of earthquake engineering contribute to the advancement of global earthquake engineering. The Huixian International Forum on Earthquake Engineering for Young Researchers was jointly proposed by the Huixian Earthquake Engineering Foundation and the US-China Earthquake Engineering Foundation, aiming to commemorate the pioneers in earthquake engineering and provide young researchers with a platform for communication, knowledge sharing, and research collaboration.
The first to the sixth forums were held in Harbin (2014), Beijing (2016), Illinois (2017), Shanghai (2018), Wuhan (2022), and Hong Kong (2023). The seventh forum will be held in Harbin, China, in August 2024, in addition to commemorating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Engineering Mechanics, China Earthquake Administration. We extend the warmest welcome to all and hope you enjoy the 7th Huixian International Forum.
