Are you eager to shape the cities of tomorrow? We are looking for a PhD student who conducts research in the Swiss National Science Foundation National Research Program 81 funded project “Beyond Replacement Construction: Implementing the Socio-Ecological Transformation of the Swiss Built Environment”.
The project focuses on the socio-ecological transformation of the built environment in Swiss cities through soft densification (i.e., vertical extensions, building an annex, infill development etc.) as a sustainable alternative to hard densification (i.e. demolition and total renovation).
In Swiss cities, the current implementation of hard densification strategies often results in significant socio-environmental challenges, particularly in terms of displacement and social exclusion of low-income residents and increased CO2 emissions from construction activities.
