I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management (ISOM), School of Business and Management, at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). I joined the department in July 2017. Prior to that, I was a research associate at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

My research interests are natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, statistical inference, and their applications in finance and business.

I obtained a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at Northwestern University in 2015, and a bachelor’s degree from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2009.

I interned at IBM T.J.Watson Research and Amazon AWS.
