英语课堂上如何夸赞、鼓励学生？

我是一家少儿英语培训机构的教师。

入职一年多以来，在授课或批改作业的过程中，为了表示对孩子努力的肯定和赞扬，我最常用的三个词是“Good !Great! Wonderful!” 您觉得这三个词用得恰当吗？

这三个词确实是课堂用语里的“高频词”，且拉开了梯度——

Good< Great < Wonderful

举例来说，吃到一盘美食时——

1. "This is good." I'll have more than one bite.

2. "This is great." I'll finish the entire plate.

3. "This is wonderful!" I might ask for the recipe because I'll want to eat it again and share it with my friends.

不过，单纯用这三个词，你不觉得沉闷吗？

确实有这个困惑。

其他的说法，像是“Excellent!” "Way to go!"等等，我也用过。但最常用的还是刚刚那三个。

您也知道，批改学生笔头作业的时候，如果不用单个的单词，而要写出一句话的评语的话，我还得思考很久，耗费很多时间。

这确实是大实话。个性化、差异化的反馈用语确实需要教师花不少心思。

现在的教学中都强调发展孩子的思维能力，如果孩子展现了独立的、新颖的观点，该如何赞扬呢？

潜台词：It’s great that you’re showing new thinking.

具体表述：

面对较小的孩子，不妨说 “Kiss your brain!”

稍大些的孩子，可用“Your brain is working hard!”

如果想进一步促进孩子深度思考，可用 “Tell me how you thought of this.”

或“How would you explain this to someone who just walked into our classroom?”

有的时候，孩子在课堂上说了一句话，或者在作业里写的内容和我的思路特别契合，我忍不住表扬和鼓励。也就是说，发现了孩子的一个闪光点！也想让孩子知道这是一个闪光点。

潜台词：You need to know there’s something special here.

这种情况倒是适合用单个的词来表扬，除了你上面提到的，我再补充几个——

"Awesome!"

“Brilliant!”

“Bravo!”

“Amazing!”

“Marvelous!”

"Terrific"

“That’s exceptional!”

对于那些基础不错的孩子，我想让他们百尺竿头更进一步，该怎么说呢？

潜台词：This is very impressive, but I need to keep pushing you.

可以根据具体情况，选用——

“What does this make you curious about now?”

“What happens next?”

“Where was your greatest challenge and how did you overcome it?”

“What would you revise, re-think, or re-do?”

如果孩子表现得超出预期，该怎么强调才能让他们感受到我的喜悦？

潜台词：You have just blown me away!

可以活学活用如下表达——

“There are adults who wouldn’t even think of this.”

“You need a wider audience. Who else should we share this with?”

“I just sent your parents an email. They need to know you blew me away today!”

也可以大胆地使用一些修辞手法——

“Your thinking here is so precise, it’s like a hot knife on butter.”

“Your effort reminds me of great runners. They always run through the finish line, never just up to it.”

“Your strategy in solving this problem would outwit a Google engineer.”

“Your ingenuity in this project would make a jazz musician proud.”

“Your curiosity reminds me of the joy of watching toddlers play.”
