in collaboration with the Hoffmann Institute of Advanced Materials
(HIAM) / Shenzhen Polytechnic in Shenzhen, China, is currently looking for a
postdoctoral fellow to fill a position for two years with possible renewal
contingent on funding
availability and based on the performance of the fellow
. The site at which the post-doctoral fellow will work is in the
Asefa’s laboratory at Rutgers University in USA, but the position is funded and
supported by HIAM and Shenzhen Polytechnic (SZPT). The fellow will have a
primary affiliation with SZPT. Generous salary and additional support,
including support for round trip travel from China to USA, will be provided.
The position is available starting July 2018 until it is filled.
The research area that the post-doctoral fellow is expected to work on will
include synthesis and characterization of various advanced nanostructured and
nanoporous, catalytically active materials with potential applications in
photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, and energy conversions and storage.
Capabilities in synthesis and characterization of nanostructured materials with
catalytic properties, and knowledge of electrocatalysis and electrochemical
set-ups and processes would be required. Abilities to study materials with
theoretical and simulation approaches would be an asset. The post-doctoral
fellow must have prior demonstrated track record of accomplshments, through
publications of at least two first-authored publications in major peer-reviewed
international journals such as Journal of American Chemical Society (JACS),
Angewandte Chemie, Advanced Materials, etc. (journals with Impact Factors
preferably higher than 8 and above).
HIAM, which is named after the Nobel Laureate, Prof. Roald
Hoffmann at Cornell University in USA, is a newly established institute at
Shenzhen Polytechnic in Shenzhen, China, that is fostering advanced research
spanning a variety of materials and their applications in collaboration with
Professor Asefa and several other renowned researchers from around the world. Possible
permanent position for the post-doctoral fellow may become available at HIAM
later on, depending on the performance of the post-doctoral fellow during
his/her postdoctoral research and availability of positions at HIAM.
