Netanyahu Calls for Closure of UN Aid Agency for Palestinians
以色列总理呼吁关闭联合国巴勒斯坦援助机构
Palestinians and their supporters continued to hold protests against Trump’s decision on Jerusalem, after the US president last month announced that he would move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Angry Palestinian leaders said they would no longer accept US mediation in any talks with Israel.In response Trump last week threatened to cut US aid for the Palestinians which amounts to about 300 million dollars annually. The Palestinians reacted with defiance.
巴勒斯坦及其支持者持续反对特朗普对耶路撒冷的决定。这是自上个月，美国总统宣布将美国大使馆从特拉维夫迁到耶路撒冷后。愤怒的巴勒斯坦领导人表示，之后与以色列进行的谈判中将不接受美国任何形式的调停。作为回应，上周特朗普威胁要削减美国每年对巴勒斯坦的三亿美金援助金。巴勒斯坦人民对此嗤之以鼻。
“When it comes to threats, the United States is used to threatening the Palestinian people,and we are used to standing up to them and confronting them.” “If we continue to live under Israeli and American blackmail we will never become a state.”
谈及威胁，美国习惯于威胁巴勒斯坦人民，而我们习惯了站起来反抗。如果我们继续生活在以色列和美国的胁迫之下，我们就永远不会成为一个国家。
Israel’s Prime Minister on Sunday went even further than Trump and said the UN agency, established in 1949 to support Palestinian refugees, should be dismantled.
周日以色列总理的回应比特朗普更甚，他表示联合国于1949年建立的帮助巴勒斯坦难民营的机构应该被撤除。
“I totally agree with president Trump’s poignant criticism of UNRWA, UNRWA is an organization that is perpetuating the Palestinian refugee problem. It is also perpetuating the alleged right of return narrative, with a goal to terminate the State of Israel.And therefore UNRWA has to pass from the world.” Netanyahu said the UN agency for Palestinian refugees now supports mostly their descendants.
我完全同意特朗普总统对于联合国近东救济工程的尖锐批判，该机构恰恰是巴勒斯坦难民问题长期存在的原因。它还使所谓的“回归权利”的说法延续下去，目的是消除以色列国，因此远东救济工程必须消失。内塔尼亚胡说联合国为巴勒斯坦难民设立的机构现在主要是在帮助之前那些难民的后代。
“Of course, this creates a situation, where there are already grandchildren of refugees who are not refugees themselves who are taken care of by UNRWA. And there will be another 70 years with more great-grandchildren, and therefore this absurd situation needs to stop.”
